About Lemosho Route
The Lemosho Route is one of the best routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It is known for its stunning scenery, diverse landscapes, and high success rate due to longer acclimatization time. Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Lemosho Gate – Big Tree Camp
Distance: 8 km
Duration: 4–6 hours
Altitude: 2,100 m → 2,700 m
You start in the rainforest and walk through beautiful vegetation to Big Tree Camp for overnight stay.
Day 2: Big Tree Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Distance: 10 km
Duration: 5–7 hours
Altitude: 2,700 m → 3,500 m
Cross open moorland with incredible views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks before reaching Shira 1 Camp.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Distance: 5 km
Duration: 4–5 hours
Altitude: 3,500 m → 3,850 m
Continue through moorland, giving your body time to acclimatize for higher altitudes.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Barranco Camp
Distance: 10 km
Duration: 6–8 hours
Altitude: 3,850 m → 3,960 m
Descend slightly to Barranco Camp. Enjoy the stunning scenery and prepare for the Barranco Wall climb tomorrow.
Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Distance: 5–7 km

Altitude: 3,960 m → 4,035 m
Climb the Barranco Wall and continue to Karanga Camp for acclimatization.
Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Distance: 4–6 km
Duration: 4–5 hours
Altitude: 4,035 m → 4,600 m
Reach Barafu Camp in preparation for the summit night. Rest, hydrate, and get ready for the final push.
Day 7: Summit Day – Mweka Camp
Summit: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m)
Duration: 12–15 hours
Start the climb at midnight, reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise, and descend to Mweka Camp for rest.
Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha
Distance: 10 km
Duration: 4–5 hours
Finish the trek through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Return to Arusha after collecting summit certificates.
